My name is John Franco, and I reside on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. I have long held an appreciation for photography, beginning with my first “real” camera, a Canon AE-1. This camera provided me with a great deal of enjoyment as I self-taught the principles of photography, including the Trinity of Light—ISO, Shutter Speed, and Aperture—to achieve proper exposure. Additionally, I learned aspects of composition and how to create images that I found appealing.
During that time, my focus was primarily on black and white photography, and I taught myself how to develop and print these images. Many years later, I acquired my first “real” DSLR, the Canon T3i, which I greatly enjoyed. Eventually, I upgraded to my current camera, the Canon 5D Mark IV.
Photography is a pursuit that brings me joy as I capture the beauty of the world created by my Heavenly Father. I photograph to satisfy my own aesthetic preferences, and it is through this lens that I view the world. I hope that others can also appreciate the beauty in my photography.
